Academic Enrichment & School Support
Staff Appreciation
Organize and plan a week of events in the spring to recognize school staff, including providing meals, gifts, parties, etc. Should be available on campus throughout the week of Staff Appreciation. Work with Partners in Education (PIE) coordinators to facilitate cooperation with PIEs.
Media Center
Work with Media Center Specialist to replenish incentives and treasure box items. Also check in periodically with Media Center specialist to determine needed support. Facilitate delivery of Sunshine State books.
Grade Chair (Pre-K through 5th grade including ESE)
Work with teachers to select room parents and ensure that each class in the grade he/she represents has a classroom Room Parent(s). Oversees Room Parent activities and works with the board to ensure information is communicated from the PTA to the parents in a streamlined and effective manner. Coordinates a snack for one monthly staff meeting a year, plans grade-wide event (playdate, etc.) and assist with grade-level efforts during Staff Appreciation Week.
Room Parents
Work with Grade Chair to communicate PTA news to classroom families. Assist teachers with classroom activities as needed. Help plan classroom parties. Volunteer at school events as needed.
Healthy School
Responsible for working with the school’s Healthy School Team to promote various school health events and other healthy team initiatives.
Odyssey of the Mind
Volunteers are need to serve as coaches to the school-based teams. Odyssey of the Mind is a creative problem-solving competition where teams of students work together at length to solve a problem and then present their solution to that problem at a tournament.
School Garden
Volunteers to help coordinate the restoration, upkeep, and beautification of the BPES learning garden. Committee members will work in the garden as needed, including planting, watering, weeding, composting, and fertilizing. The committee may also assist teachers with classroom gardening and implement educational gardening activities for students and families, including the possible formation of an after-school gardening club.
